Where Is The cheapest Gas – GasBuddy Can Tell You This
Have you heard about GasBuddy? This great business idea was incorporated in Minneapolis, back in 2000, by two guys named Dustin Coupal and Jason Toews. Before launching the company, Dustin was an eye doctor and Jason worked as a computer programmer. Do you remember that around year 2000, gas prices started to rise? This was how the two entrepreneurs came to the idea of helping people save some money regarding this. Different gas stations offered different prices and there was always a place where filling up your car tank was a sweet bargain. So, the two entrepreneurs decided to launch a service showing people where the cheapest gas around them is. The idea was cool, so what was left for them was to take action. They created a website (gasbuddy.com) in which they started publishing the gas prices at the gas stations around the town.
This turned our to be a really nice idea, as many people used their website to check where they can find the cheapest gas stations near by. Initially the service was available only in their town, but because of the huge demand, it started spreading all around the United States. Soon, it became available in most of the states in the US and even in some areas in Canada. People who helped them to update the gas prices in the different stations were rewarded with tickets that allowed them to win prepaid gas cards. But their big growth was still to come. During the first years of their business there were no mobile devices. Today, everybody has a smart phone and Gasbuddy’s business is booming. This couldn’t stay unnoticed. This was how in year 2013, Oil Price Information Service (OPIS) bought Gasbuddy.
Today, in addition to their website, Gasbuddy has a mobile app for the most popular devices and operating systems and their service is used by millions of people in the USA and Canada. It’s free and it’s one of the most successful apps out there. You can check it out, especially is you are always searching the cheapest gas stations near you…
